Eating in Taiwan Night Markets

Travelling around Taiwan visitors will have no problems finding food and local delicacies in many famous night markets. The night markets food are very popular because they are delicious and econmical for both local and foreign visitors. If you are in Tapei you wish to dine at Shilin night market 市林夜市 for many local food or go shopping at Ximending 西门町 and eat at famous Ah Chong noodle 阿宗麵线 .
You may also find a wide variety of local food in Taiwan such as mango ice dessert, bubble tea ,big chicken chop, fried oyster, Mongul barbecue, stinking doufu and hot sour steam boat.
Travelling to Taichung 台中 you will visit FungChia night market 逢甲夜市 which is near the Fungjia university. You can try food such as salted fried chicken, babercue prawns & oysters and walk into the alley to enjoy coffee at the cafe. Every year in October they will organize a jazz music festival and a gala food festival.
In Pintung 屏东 there is a mini Thailand Pattaya food street and shopping area in Kenting street 垦丁where you can find food stalls lined up along both side of the road at night. Many local favorites can be found here such as pork noodle, soya sauce pork rice, big intestine, dan dan noodle and tropical fruits. As Kenting is a beach resort, visitors and tourists come here to enjoy sea sports or stay at the beach chalets, the shops sell local delicacies, souverniors, diving gear, beachwear and sports equipment.
From taipei station you can travel by train to Keelung 基隆 to search for food at Jiufen night market 基隆九份夜市 or Keelung Temple night market 基隆庙口夜市. The Jiufen night market ,九份夜市 around Jiufen University area, has many popular food such as yam balls dessert, stinking doufu, meat dumpling, fish balls and Taiwan sausage. From here you also can drive for an hour to Keelung Temple night market 基隆庙口夜市 where you can sample Japanese sushi and tempura, seafood and fried curry noodles.
