Ethiopian Airlines is to open new route to Shanghai and plan to  operate a cargo flight between Shanghai and Guangzhou in order to meet the booming business demands between China and Africa. Tewolde Gebremariam,The CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, annouced this news at the press conference of  celabrating 40th Anniversary of flights to China on 7th November in Beijing.

A pioneer in African aviation, Ethiopian was the first African carrier and the fourth in the world to fly to China. Since the first flight 40 years ago, China has been a key market and continues to be one of the most important destinations for Ethiopian. Currently, Ethiopian has non-stop daily flights to Beijing and Guangzhou. In total, Ethiopian serves 25 weekly flights to four destinations in China, which will grow to 28 weekly flights at the end of the month.

Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing airline in Africa, made its maiden international flight to Cairo in 1946 and now the Airline provides dependable services to 70 international destinations spanning four continents.
